Preventing and Reducing Food Waste

Food Banks from Visegrad countries exchange their experiences with supermarket chains in order to improve preventing and reducing food waste.

While there are many similar supermarket chains operating in the V4 countries having unified strategy for food donations for all of Central/Eastern Europe, the practice in individual countries differ significantly.

Exchanging experiences of the V4 food banks and comparing national approaches of supermarkets to food donations was aimed to help the V4 food banks to work out common strategies for improved effectiveness of cooperation with the supermarket chains in their country.

Next to improved effectiveness in reducing food waste, the collaboration also helped with identifying best practices for the food bank´s cooperation with local organizations delivering food to people in need.
